“If you say in an Ibsen play “I am unhappy” it’s not that you are unhappy, but that millions of people like you in the world have the same problem and are unhappy. To play it without lifting up the cosmic problem is wrong. You have it in you but you must know that within as you work on it. Knowing that it has this size will make you not play it as if it were personal.
